The Two Deaths of John Beartrist Laceroot

The play, The Two Deaths of John Beartrist Laceroot was written for The School of the Transfer of Energy Puppet Theater.  Below are a few scenes from part 1 of the play, and you may view the script here if you wish.  Special thanks go to Annie Stone for her photographs, and for being my partner early on.

  1. I am so happy to see you have been performing again and just sad I am on the other side of the globe. I have been to visit the puppet pictures many times over years, not for a while and not since this page had changed format, the gallery is very nice like this. I am always inspired by what I see here and always come away from your pages feeling so much better than I did on arrival. Thank you for this – Peter

    1. Thank you, Peter. It is good to be performing and working on the theater again. I’ve been trying to make the space to do this for years and I’m grateful that there are now opportunities to do both.

  2. Hello Jack, I am back again for another look at the show and gallery, it is always such a pleasure to maek this journey. This winter I’ve been reading the script again of the story and looking at the ilmages to see how they and the script go together. You have posted Part One, acts 1-3, did you ever write or complete a Part 2? A miracle of transformation has begun, but does Walking Man remain a Tree or how does his cycle of life continue?

Happy New Year – hope all is well on the farm – Regards Peter

    1. Hello Peter, Thank you for revisiting Mr. Laceroot. I am still committed to part two- but the gathering in of it is slow work. It turns out that the timing isn’t entirely symbolic. Or is perhaps more deeply symbolic- depending how you grapple with such things. The cycle will certainly continue. I have continued to develop aspects of part one- I actually need to update the page for the puppet show at some point, if I can find the time. Thank you again for the visit and attention. Happy New Year to you as well!

      sincerely
